Dear Family!
Okay, well this last week was great! We had zone conference which is always a great boost! The theme of this zone conference mainly seemed to be on helping those around us come to truly feel the love of God. We also tied that into working with ward and stake leaders in missionary work. It was a great reminder that this work can not be done on our own. We need to go about showing the ward we are there to serve and lift the ward and the members. It was great to be reminded that "We are One" as was said by President Monson in the Hastening the Work of Salvation address. The best day ever this week was Thursday! On Thursday we taught A who should be getting baptized this Saturday. After teaching A we actually went on splits. That was a first for me and it was soooo much fun!! I went out with a lady named sister Solomon. She is hilarious and is going on her singles senior mission to the Salt Lake Family History Center Mission in two weeks. Seriously her sense of humour reminds me of Oma. She is originally from England and she still says some things kind of strange, haha! I went with Sister Solomon to see a Less Active member. We had a great lesson and our Less Active is making leaps and bounds in her progression. She told us that she has been reading from the Book of Mormon every night and praying before she goes to bed and she hasn't had to take any of her pain medications in the last 5 days! That is huge for her! Sister Barrow went with Sister Burch to go and see S and they had a great visit with S as well.
S is making so many steps in the right direction. We took her to the family history center on Tuesday and we have talked to her a lot about temples and family history work. On Sunday the entire theme was on temples and family history and S actually asked me if she can't do her family names in the temple because she isn't a member. I said yes and she said, hmm, I thought so. Its sooo cool to see the spirit of Elijah working in her and drawing her closer and closer to baptism. The promise in Malachi 4:4-6 is true! Otherwise we also met with our investigator named An. She is making progress and the member we take with us to go visit An is the perfect team-up for her. We talked to her a lot about the sacrament yesterday. She still needs to come to church, but Sister Heiken invited her to come to a RS Activity as a first step to get her toes dipped in the water. She seemed really excited to come, so hopefully she will come next week to the activity that is planned :)
Otherwise, we are looking for more prepared souls to teach. Things at the Jail have been slowing down, so we actually get five minutes to sit down and catch our breath, but presentations are still fairly steady. Just smaller groups or 3-6 people instead of 20-50 people. So that has been kind of nice. I am excited for another week. I really hope that as sister Barrow and I go out that we will find prepared souls that the Lord has for us to find. I love you all! I hope you have a great week! Keep working hard and I hope you see daily miracles in your life!
Love,
Sister Luening
